Leg 22 (Feb 16): Abbeville – Lake Charles

Leg 22 (Feb 16): Abbeville – Lake Charles, 139 km, elevation 120 m. Total distance 2208 km.

Hmm, not a very interesting day on the roads. Long day, wet and windy the first half, not tail wind… The roads were generally nice but the scenery was not very exciting. We did see vaste floded fields with red dots in them that we at first couldn’t make out what they were until we saw a ”harvest vehicle” emptying the red dots (crayfish cages). Huge crayfish farms. Wonder if they do as in south east asia combine cray fish farming (shrimp farming) with rice culture?

Fourth consecutive day of biking, and tomorrow will be another long ride until we reach Port Arthur where we will have a well earned day off…
