Leg 59 Long Beach – Los Angeles (Apr 9): 55 km, climb 161 m. Total distance 5935 km.

Last leg of the this adventure, surrealistic feeling… Been on the road since Jan 19, and now, all of sudden (or maybe not that sudden) no more biking…

Nice warm, and dead calm, morning. Passing Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge and Anaheim Bay without a single ripple on the surface, except those by playing dolphins. Was a little concerned for todays ride, after all L.A. is a pretty big city, but today Ms. Google Maps excelled. The majority of the ride along separated bike trails, and when not she directed us to nice roads. Riding through L.A. turned out to be piece of cake, well, more or less.

Riding along the Los Angeles River on the river trail (almost 20 km) we saw many people a lot less fortunate in life than us. So sad to see all those homeless people, and in the same time so glad to live the extremely privileged life we do. There is not a single day without me being thankful.

Beautiful bike trails…

…through Long Beach

Where Long Beach got its name’s a no-brainer

Riding on L.A. River Trail…

…and more through the actual city…
