Leg 2: Everglades City – Matlacha 147 km, elevation 95 m.

Leaving our nice Everglades City motel, chilly morning, only 7 degress C (44F) in the morning. Riding out of Everglades was like riding next to a National Geografic movie. The wildlife absolutely fascinating. Popped into ”Ten Thousand Islands” state park before exiting Everglades where we, besides seing an aboundance of wildlife, met Tom and Paula who were heading for the Keys on their bikes. Nice to meet fellow crazy people…

I found out you don’t earn any popularity points when booking a nice motel several miles off the road after a long days ride ending up in complete darkness after the rechargeable bikelights ran out of juice…
